Waiting for Pottery

I go to a pottery class every Thursday after work. This is great, except that it doesn’t start til 6.30pm so I have to wait around for an hour and a half. Since I’m trying to avoid shopping - there being a Next, a Boots, a Sainsburys and now a Brantanos lurking between me and my pottery class waiting to leap out, steal my credit card and spend all my money - I generally stay at work so that I can avoid tempatation and maybe catch up on a few things. Sometimes I just can’t be arsed hanging about though. It’s all I can do not to just toddle off home and watch the telly.

Why do all these classes start at 6.30 or 7.00pm? Realistically who can make it home, have their tea and be out again in time for the class. When you leave work at 5pm, sit in traffic for at least half an hour (but often more like 45 minutes or even an hour), it’s time to set off again by the time you arrive home. Then the class goes on til 9pm and it takes half an hour to get home again, by which time you’re on the verge of passing out from starvation.

Why can’t they start the classes at 6pm finishing at 8pm? Then you can go straight to the class after work and be home in time to have tea/dinner at a reasonable time and still catch a bit of telly before it’s bed time. Ah good, I’ve got that out of my system now.
