Good grief, Britain has gone completely mad! How come two paedophiles can be let off from sentencing because the prisons are too full but they can find space for a News of the World reporter who’s been tapping a few phones? Who is the bigger threat to society? It’s all up side down - the judicial system is protecting those who can fend for themselves (the wealthy) and completely failing those who are vunerable.
Obviously my mind is fully occupied with excitement over my new car. I received my smart car Concept from Signs Express today. It looks fantastic - a little diagram of the stickers as they’ll look when they’ve been applied to the car. I can’t wait! Unfortunately though, I’m going to have to wait until next Thursday or Friday I think because the Smart Manchester workshop needs a couple of days to check the car over and Signs Express need a couple of days to apply the stickers. Once this is all done it’s mine. Whoo hoo!!
Hmm, struggled a bit today with the admin training. I don’t think I’ll be called up on to look after that side of things for the new website anyway, but I still hate discovering that I have limitations. I got the hang of the basic things - adding new users, adding new groups, adding users to groups but after that it all got a bit complicated. Think I’ll stick to writing content and adding pretty pictures.
Well, it’s now completely confirmed. A black and white smart fortwo pulse with automatic transmission is winging it’s way towards Manchester and me as I write. I’m very excited. My old car (well, not that old really) has passed it’s MOT like a little good ‘un. It just needed a new front tyre. The MOT guys also refit my front windscreen wipers as the stupid girl from Halfords had fit them upside down or back to front or something. I wouldn’t mind but it cost me two quid to get Halfords to fit them. What a rip off!
Work have purchased a new content management system to look after their website. It’s called Contensis and will replace our current reliance on Dreamweaver and the handful of people trained/trusted to use it. We had the user training today - it’s really simple to use. Probably just about as simple as using Wordpress to write this blog in many ways. Really intuitive.
After much umming and arghing Smart Manchester and I have finally reached a compromise. We’ve priced up resprays (starts at £1000), buying a complete set of brand new panels in green (also approx £1000), sticker packages, upping the spec etc. In the meantime, however, I’ve been furkeling on the internet and found a set of smart car zebra stickers for £50 a set. Bargain and just what I wanted - a funky little car.
Finally, Mark has told me that I’ve made him a nice cup of tea - it’s only taken 14 months!! In all that time he’s never once commented on a cup of tea I’ve made him and he drinks a lot of cups of tea. Tonight was special, however, the tea was at last worthy of comment.
Here’s Mark enjoying the special brew …

Oh no, head in hands. Apparently the car with bright green panels that I bought on Sunday does not exist. It is registered with another dealership who has sold my green panels to someone else, replaced them with grey panels, and failed miserably to update the computer records. The complete gits!
Now I’m seriously sulking and trying to decide what to do. I really only want a green one.
Mark dragged me off to see the latest in the Rocky franchise on Saturday night. I have to confess I really did think it would be a contender for one of the worst films every made - it had all the potential - I mean a story about a fighter coming out of retirement because of a computer simulated fight that said he’d win.
Actually, it wasn’t bad. Quite engaging in fact with a worthy and uplifting central message. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was a good movie, but it was entertaining and made you feel bright and perky at the end. I’d give it 7 out of 10.
